There are a lot of accommodation options in town and things aren’t generally too busy over thanksgiving weekend. Here are some of our recommendations for those looking for a place to stay.

Hotels

There are a number of hotels in Thunder Bay; however, most of these are located near the airport or along major arterial roads far from the Finlandia Hall. If you can look past the dated decor and a few bad reviews, the Prince Arthur Hotel would be our top recommendation as it is the only hotel located downtown Port Arthur (north end of town) on the waterfront. You can easily walk to the Finlandia Hall from here (about a 10 minute walk) and all the best restaurants and coffee shops in town are right next door. The corner rooms facing the lake are the best ones. Otherwise there is also the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton which is Thunder Bay’s newest and has received good reviews. The Hampton is located next to the airport in Fort William (south side of town).

Airbnb

Airbnb is another good option in terms of finding something near the Finlandia Hall. Some of our friends have their own listings like Rita who has a private room with one single bed and Caroline who has a private room with a double bed.
